Just like every great Mexican dish you need spice! My previous Margarita menu derived the spiciness from the Ancho Reyes chili liqueur but in this case we are going old school with straight Jalapeños. Be very very careful however because Jalapeños vary quite wildly in spiciness. The best way to avoid going overboard it to make sure you get rid of the seeds. Those can be a killer.
My favorite of the classic margarita recipes is the Cadillac so I’ve taken the Cadillac recipe and added spiciness to come up with this amazing cocktail. Enjoy!
- 1.5 oz Tequila Blanco
- 2 slices of Jalapeños (no seeds!!)
- 1/2 oz Grand Marnier
- 1/2 oz Orange Curacao (or Cointreau)
- 3/4 oz Lime Juice
- Optional: Rim with Salt and add a lime wheel (this is especially necessary if you need to balance out the spiciness)
Tips and Tricks:
- If you want to bring out the flavor and spiciness of the Jalapeños, first add the tequila and Jalapeño slices. Muddle them but don’t completely destroy the slices. Then add the rest of the ingredients, shake with ice and serve.
