Don Julio Añejo

Just about anything Don Julio is great (although I am not a fan of the silver). Both the reposado and añejo are great for shooting but its worth to spend a few more dollars for añejo. Its slightly more smooth. I can recall countless times when I’ve shared this tequila with non-tequila fans and they have been instantly transformed. Many of those become Don Julio fans for life.

Herradura Añejo

Another brand that has a great lineup top to bottom is Herradura. This is also a super smooth shooting tequila that won’t leave too much of a burn going down. Because it’s not as popular as Don Julio, you can usually find it a few bucks cheaper.

Corzo Silver

Corzo is quite possibly the smoothest silver tequila you will find and one of the few I will shoot. This is a high end brand however and even the silver will run you nearly $50 but its worth it. I will sometime mix with this tequila when I really want the absolute best flavor of a cocktail but not always because it is fairly pricey for making lots of mixed drinks.

Asombroso

I had to include this tequila in the list primarily for my sisters. As you can see the bottle has a very unique look that is often times mistaken for something else (i’m sure thats on purpose). This seems like it would be very gimmicky but the tequila is actually damn good. I honestly think this brand does itself a disservice because of the shape of the bottle, but its fun and great all at the same time. The most fun I’ve had with this bottle was when we gifted it to our adopted sister Mara at her 40th birthday party. It became a hit of the party with all the guests posing for pictures while holding the bottle in some very risque places!!
