Mezcal has become a crazy popular liquor in the craft cocktail world and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it. When I look at cocktail menus I typically scan the list to find the Mezcal cocktail first. The majority of the time that is my first choice. For many Mezcal can be overwhelmingly smoky and can be an acquired taste. I typically balance out most of my Mezcal cocktails with Tequila so it isn’t too overboard.
If your interested in a good way to acquire the tase of Mezcal try this method.
Once again I base this recipe on my favorite Cadillac Margarita base. Here is the recipe:
- 3/4 oz Tequila Blanco
- 3/4 oz Mezcal (Vida ideally)
- 1/2 oz Grand Marnier
- 1/2 oz Orange Curacao (or Cointreau)
- 3/4 Lemon/Lime Juice
